This evening will play host to a nine-course tasting menu showcasing a harmonious blend of global culinary artistry and a profound respect for our oceans. With sustainability as the golden thread connecting each course and each chef's inspiration, the chefs have curated dishes using only four carefully selected ocean species, complemented by oceanic and terrestrial plants. This approach not only showcases the chefs' creativity and innovation but also underscores the importance of marine biodiversity.

What ingredients can you expect from South Africa?

South African ingredients take centre stage, with a welcome taste featuring indigenous leaves like sout slaai, dune spinach, prenia, and sun rose. The journey continues through ocean plants and responsibly sourced seafood, culminating in a seasonal dessert inspired by local citrus groves. Beverage pairings include unique coastal South African wines, artisanal Japanese sake, and an ocean-inspired cocktail crafted by Jennifer Hugé.

Why is "Connected by Currents" the theme?

The theme "Connected by Currents" reflects the shared maritime heritage of the participating chefs and their commitment to ocean conservation. All three chefs are members of the Relais & Châteaux World Culinary Council, whose aim is to raise awareness about the vital role oceans play in our ecosystem. AS well as showcasing how sustainably sources foods can be elevated to extraordinary levels.
